The Director General (DG) reports directly to the Ombudsperson and leads the implementation of the human rights responsibility mechanism (HRRM), the CORE’s dispute resolution system for alleged human rights abuses.

They are a member of the CORE’s senior management team working closely with the Ombudsperson, Director of Engagement and Director of Corporate Services to ensure a coordinated organizational approach and enable the CORE to deliver on its mandate.

The DG is the CORE’s liaison with the Department of Justice to obtain legal advice on all matters related to the implementation of the HRRM.
Reporting directly to the Director General are the following two positions:

  • Deputy Director Review (PM-06) responsible for: leading ombud-initiated and complaint-based reviews, including all remedy recommendations, follow-up processes and reporting related to reviews. Manages a staff of three (PM-05, EC-05, EC-03).
  • Deputy Director, Dispute Resolution (PM-06) responsible for: leading the intake of all complaints and inquiries, initial assessment, and the provision of mediation services by consultants, including all follow-up processes on settlements and recommendations, and reporting related to those processes. Manages a staff of two (PM-05, PM-03).
